An Interview with Jeremiah J. Arnold (J.J.), VP of Strategic Alliances at S3 AeroDefense

Jeremiah J. Arnold (J.J.) joined S3 AeroDefense in February 2024 as its Vice President of Strategic Alliances. Before joining S3 AeroDefense, J.J. held pivotal positions at Elbit Systems of America, where he served as Vice President of Business Development for the Sustainment and Support Solutions (S&SS) Business Unit. We sat down with J.J. to talk about his career, about growing and nurturing S3’s OEM partnerships, and how he stays grounded.

Q: J.J., you’ve been with S3 AeroDefense since February and have already made significant strides by securing multiple new OEM partnerships. What has been your approach to achieving this so quickly?

J.J.: It’s been an exciting few months since I joined S3 AeroDefense. My approach centers on leveraging my experience and the solid foundation that S3 already has in place. We have an exceptional team and a strong reputation in the industry, which has been crucial in establishing new OEM relationships. I focus on understanding the unique needs of our OEM partners and aligning those with our capabilities. It’s about building trust, demonstrating our value, and showing how we can provide unparalleled support to our global military customers.

Q: Can you tell us more about your background and how it has prepared you for your role at S3 AeroDefense?

J.J.: I have over 25 years of experience in supply chain management, logistics, program management, sales, and business development. Before joining S3, I was with Elbit Systems of America, where I served as Vice President of Business Development for the Sustainment and Support Solutions Business Unit. I also spent a decade at Sikorsky Aircraft and Derco Aerospace, managing multi-million-dollar Department of Defense and FMS aircraft logistics programs. My education in communication and business management, coupled with my ongoing PhD in Leadership, has equipped me with the skills needed to lead strategic initiatives and cultivate OEM relationships effectively. Most importantly, I’ve had the privilege of being mentored by some of the best in the industry, and my curiosity and desire to constantly learn, improve, and grow have always motivated me.

Q: How do these new partnerships with Vertex Solutions, TAT Technologies, and Equiptec align with S3 AeroDefense’s strategic goals?

J.J.: These partnerships are a perfect fit for our strategic goals. Vertex Solutions brings advanced flight simulation technology, enhancing our training solutions for military operators. TAT Technologies offers cutting-edge thermal management and power actuation services, which are vital for maintaining aircraft performance and safety. Equiptec’s adjustable height platforms expand our ground support equipment offerings, providing comprehensive solutions for aircraft maintenance. Together, these partnerships enable us to offer a broader range of products and services, strengthening our position as a one-stop-shop for global military aircraft operators.

Q: S3 AeroDefense is known for its customer service and expertise. How do these qualities influence your approach to building and maintaining partnerships?

J.J.: Our commitment to customer service and expertise is at the core of everything we do. When building partnerships, we emphasize our ability to deliver customized solutions and our deep understanding of the aerospace and defense industry. We show our partners that we can meet their specific needs efficiently and effectively. Our exceptional trade compliance and logistics expertise also play a crucial role. We strive to exceed expectations and meet customers “where they are”, which helps us maintain strong, long-term relationships with our partners and customers.

Q: Could you share an example of how S3 AeroDefense’s custom solutions have made a difference for a customer?

J.J.: One notable example is our recent project with Vertex Solutions in Colombia. We delivered and implemented two Immersive Trainer Devices for the T-6C platform. This project showcased our ability to provide tailored solutions that meet the exact requirements of our customers. The success of this project not only strengthened our relationship with Vertex but also demonstrated our capability to deliver complex, high-quality solutions on time and within budget. It’s a testament to our commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Q: Looking ahead, what are your goals for S3 AeroDefense in the coming years?

J.J.: Financial growth is given, but our overarching goal remains the same: cater to our customers. By embracing technological advancements and maintaining our high standards of customer service, we plan to sustain our growth and long-term success without compromising the customer-centric approach that has fueled our meteoric rise over the last five years.

Q: Lastly, how do you balance your professional commitments with your community involvement and family life?

J.J.: It’s a balancing act, but I believe in the importance of giving back to the community and spending quality time with my family. I’m actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America. These commitments are very fulfilling and help me stay grounded. At home, I make it a priority to spend time with my partner and our 6-month-old daughter. It’s all about managing time effectively and staying focused on what truly matters.
